Cooperating School Districts
This workshop for mainstream teachers of ELLs will provide participants an in-depth and practical training on implementing sheltered instruction techniques in their classrooms. Participants will be able to directly apply their new knowledge, making accommodations for ELLs in their classrooms and integrating language instruction into their content classes. Topics of the sessions will include language acquisition, culture, comprehensible input, integrating language and content, building background, increasing interaction, academic vocabulary, and assessment.
This course is designed for general education teachers who would like to know strategies for working with ELLs with low Engish language proficiency skills.
